Santorini, the ancient Thira
The "modern" name is a corruption of "Santa-Irina", which was probably due to the Basilica of St. Irene that was those years in Perissa.

Kamari is preferred by most foreign tourists (probably because there to bring their travel agencies). Perissa is a bit quieter and a favorite with families, while slightly below the undersea Perivolos is more convenient for swimming. But beach and choose to view only the black (thick) of sand will impress you.

If you tease the speed and heights, then you better have your eyes closed when the bus makes the journey to or from the port. Alternatively you can choose to come to the island by air.
