Paros is the largest and most fertile island of the Cyclades complex with its capital Parikia and most popular tourist destination the town of Naoussa.

The island was inhabited in the Bronze Age. Remains of settlements from that period are at various points.
A few centuries later, Paros was already known by the trade in marble and later sculpture workshops.
The Romans used it as a place of exile.
